Types of Gutters
5” K-Style Gutter
5 inch gutter system is usually the traditional choice that accommodates most housing needs. These style of gutters are both easy to install and are sturdy, long-lasting material. They are called K-style for their curved shape and almost “K”-like appearance. The shape of them are designed to be more durable against bending, damage, and fallen debris. They are also very popular in rainier locations due to their ability to hold more water.
6” K-Style Gutter
This is the exact same style, but with a larger capacity to hold water. 6-inch K-style gutters are able to hold 40% more water volume than a 5-inch K-style. 6-inch ones are more preferable for large office buildings, commercial buildings, residential houses, or houses with steel roofs. Another thing to consider besides house size roof material would be roof pitch, the steepness of the roof angles. The steeper a roof is pitched, the more water is falling off into the gutters. For houses with a steep roof, not large enough gutters, and heavy or frequent rainfall, a lot of water can end up overflowing from the gutters into the house causing water damage that could have been avoided.
